Aluminum with a protective SiO2 or MgF2 over coat is the most widely used metallic coating. At a normal angle of incidence the reflectivity at 550NM is 90%.
If higher reflectivity is required enhanced aluminum may be used. This will average 95% from about 480NM to 750NM. Enhanced aluminum uses multilayer dielectric coatings, increasing reflectivity and protecting the surface from scratches, scuffs and oxidation.
